Work Description

During my junior year, I had the opportunity to visit Shanxi, Henan, and Shaanxi provinces for research on ancient traditional sculptures in China. During this time, I was fortunate enough to see the famous Weituo sculpture at the Pingyao Shuanglin Temple. Its unique and captivating form deeply attracted me. Later, I used digital sculpting techniques to recreate and reproduce it. With the opportunity provided by the Global Digital Sculpture Competition, I have taken the IP of the Weituo sculpture from Shuanglin Temple to create a new artwork, aiming to infuse it with a trendy aesthetic while preserving its traditional essence.

Wang Jiadian:

Personally, I believe that this artwork falls into the category of pushing boundaries. It incorporates Chinese elements while also utilizing digital sculpture to achieve intricate details. However, there is controversy surrounding this type of work in the current market or online discourse. Should Chinese culture be fused with elements of steel and iron? In this regard, I am supportive and in favor of it. Therefore, within the framework of steel and iron and with meticulous attention to detail, I believe this artwork successfully presents the content that the artist intended to convey.
